Pay Dashboard - A part of Experian Pay Dashboard

The first of its kind in the sector, the Payroll Services Summit was created for payroll providers of all backgrounds to come together to network, share, learn and collaborate in a fun and engaging environment. Now in its 5th year, the summit has grown significantly in size, but also in scope. This year we welcomed in-house Payroll delegates, as well as those working within HR and Reward. It was encouraging for us to see interest from outside the payroll services sector, as we predict the event will continue to evolve and grow in the coming years to incorporate a broader audience demographic.

Highlights and takeaways from this year's event

Delegates voted the CIPP technical update as their favourite of the day, for the second year in a row! Presented by Mathew Akrigg, CIPP's Policy & Research Officer, the session was the first of the day and included the legislative changes coming into effect in the new tax year. This year's diverse speaker line-up featured topics to appeal to a wide payroll audience. Sessions included: 'Leveraging payroll to drive value', 'Resourcing your payroll team', 'Dealing with burnout', and a panel discussion featuring a client-side perspective on what they expect from their payroll service provider.

Slido poll results

* Delegates were polled throughout the day around various payroll themes. A few of the poll highlights include:

* 87% of delegates believe that changes in payroll over the past decade has helped rather than hindered the payroll sector.

* More than half of delegates cite payroll software as being their biggest concern in 2024.

* What does payroll need to change to attract and retain the best talent? A great question. Responses in order of volume:

      1. Salary - the overwhelming winner
      2. Recognition
      3. Training
      4. Flexibility

* Payroll teams' focus for 2024: GROWTH! Followed by automation and training.

The Payroll Services Summit is the payroll services sector's flagship event, the first of its kind designed to bring payroll providers of all backgrounds together to network, learn, collaborate and share. We have always received great feedback from delegates in our post-event surveys. 86% of respondents said they would recommend the event to others after attending this year's event, and over half said they were extremely satisfied with the overall event.

The 6th annual Payroll Services Summit will be held in November 2024, and promises to be bigger and even more diverse. Register your interest to be added to the mailing list and to receive event updates.
